“Villa” should be taken as a role model for others- Education Minister

Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Asim has said that “Villa” should be taken as a role model. He made this remark as the ceremony held to confer the “Lifetime achievement award” of the World Education Congress to Gasim Ibrahim, the founder of Villa Foundation.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel, Minister of Education Dr. Asim said that Gasim Ibrahim is a role model for the world and the country with his extraordinary and selfless commitment in the field of education. He urged others to take Gasim Ibrahim as an example in spending for the betterment of the nation.

 In his speech, Dr.Asim noted that Gasim Ibrahim started his philanthropy work even before the establishment of Villa Foundation in 2003. He said that Gasim Ibrahim has been devoted to assisting students even before that. And he stressed that the inauguration of the Villa College in 2007 shows the importance Gasim Ibrahim gives to improve the education sector of the Maldives.

Dr. Asim said that study shows that there are opportunities in the country for others to establish more centers of higher education and he urged others to take the best of these golden opportunities in service of the nation.
