No evidence will be overlooked: CNI Co-Chair Selvam

Co-Chair of the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI), retired Singaporean Judge G P Selvam has said that no evidence will be overlooked when the commission concludes the investigation of the controversial transfer of power on February 7 and publishes the final report.

Speaking to the press, CNI’s Co-Chair said that he gives utmost importance to find all evidences and he will not conclude a case only after investigating all the evidences and proofs.

Selvam revealed that the Commission will not be able to conclude the investigation and finish the report on July 31 but the report will be completed by the end of August. He said that although the original date of the commencement of the investigation was on July 1, the commission was able to initiate the investigation on July 17.

He said that there are many people who are to be questioned. He said that he believes that every individual registered to provide information to the commission should be given the opportunity to provide information independently without any undue influence.

The commission announced that 244 people have registered to provide information on the events of the power transfer. They said that 52 have been interviewed after the reforming of the CNI and so far a total of 139 people have been interviewed.

CNI said that if it is decided to interview again with those who were interviewed before the reforming of the commission they will be interviewed again. However the commission informed that the opportunity for people to registerwith the commission to provide information has now been closed.
