India Club Organises Health Camp In Laamu
Gan Island
India Club, Maldives, the Association of expatriate Indian community, organised a Free Health Camp in Gan Regional Hospital, Laamu Gan Island on 20-21 January 2012. The Club had arranged six expatriate Doctors, specializing in Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology & ENT, from Male’ to participate in the Camp, alongwith doctors based in Laamu Gan Island.
There was overwhelming response from the local public of the Island, and more than 700 patients were treated by the specialist doctors in the 2-day camp. The support of the doctors was highly appreciated by the local public and the provincial authorities.
Earlier, a send-off ceremony was held in the Male Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on 20thJanuary morning, where large number of members of India Club were present. The Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Mr. Dnyaneshwar M Mulay, addressed the gathering and lauded the efforts of India Club to reach out to the local Maldivian community by organizing regular Blood Donation camps, Health Camps and such other welfare activities.
India Club has been receiving requests from various other provinces and intends to conduct such Health Camps in these provinces in near future.
The Health Camp in Lammu Gan island was supported by GMR, South Central Health Services, IGMH, Island Aviation and Sixth Sense resort.
