No such thing as “The Other Maldives”- Nihan

Villimaafannu MP Nihan Hussain Manik has said that there is no such thing as “The Other Maldives”. He said that there is only one Maldives for the people of Maldives.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily after announcing that he will be contesting for the Deputy Leadership post of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) in the upcoming congress of the party, Nihan said that he is running for the post only with one purpose and one goal. He said that his aim is to renew the national spirit of the people of Maldives which is now being buried in the dust.

Nihan said that there are many youth active in the political arena of the country. And it is important to end the notion that the talk of nationality is only for the elderly people, he said.

MP Nihan said that this is an enormous task and a responsibility of the political “warriors” from the youth.

He said that support and assistance should never be restricted to the party of one’s choice. “For example, Gasim Ibrahim the President of the Jumhooree Party was recently awarded a honourary doctorate from a foreign university. I am not a member of Jumhooree Party but I salute him for this great achievement. He didn’t receive it for nothing. But after shedding much sweat and blood for this nation. Therefore, I salute him and congratulate him,” he said.

Nihan said that he works forward in Maldivian politics with a national pride and spirit. He said that his aim is to be in the service of this nation and to build the nation.
