Zaki says he will only return to Maldives when new democratic
govt is established
While 2 Drug cases and 1 prostitution case against Zaki is under investigation , Ibrahim Hussain Zaki, former SAARC Secretary General and Special Envoy of former President Mohamed Nasheed, has said that he will remain in exile until a new democratic government is established in the Maldives with the end of the government of President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan.
In an interview to RaajeTV, Zaki said that his life is in danger if he remain in Maldives. He made this remark in a time when Maldives Police Service is investigating a case of the alleged consumption of alcohol and illegal narcotics by Zaki, Kashidoo MP Abdullah Jabir, Henveiru Dhekunu MP Hamid AbdulGhafoor and some top leading figures of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Zaki said that he had received medical treatment from a military hospital in India, for the injuries he sustained during the Hondaidhoo arrest.
In addition to this, Zaki strongly criticized the former President Maumoon AbdulGayoom. He said that Gayoom wants to reclaim power by pulling the wool over the eyes of the people. He said that this Gayoom is so power hundry that he is even ready to contest in the upcoming Presidential Election.
