MDP Warns Government:

We are planning a coup to topple the govt- Moosa Manik

Chairperson of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Moosa Manik (Reeko) has said that the party is now planning a coup to topple the government. He said that the Police will be participating in the coup.

Moosa Manik made this remark speaking at the MDP public rally held in Haa Alif Ihavandhoo. He said that MDP has plotted the coup and when MDP rises against the government three thousand police officers will have to flee for their lives.

“We will not be soft in the heart in this issue. We will come out against the government. The Police will have to stop us. And we will not show any mercy,” he said.

Moosa Manik said that they will bring President Dr. Mohamed Waheed to the Republican Square and will tie him up at the flag post there. He said that they will not let him leave to the President’s Office even if he resigns.

MDP Chairperson further said that they will gather in the Republican Square with the keys of all of the prisons in the country. He said that if fourty members of the MDP dies in the coup then MDP will break into the armory.

Moosa Manik threatened DhiTV and said that they will take over the controls of the TV station. He said that they will not move onto another place without taking control of DhiTV.
