Reclamation of Airport is a great victory for our freedom and economy- Gasim

Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader, Gasim Ibrahim has said that the reclamation of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport back to Maldivians is a great victory for the freedom of the Maldivian nation and its economy.

Gasim who was from the first to vocally criticize the decision of the former administration to lease Ibrahim Nasir International Airport to GMR, said that this is a great accomplishment for the people of Maldives.

Gasim said that the reclamation of the Airport gives the people the opportunity to stabilize the condition of the airport and adjust the economic loss caused during the days when the airport was not in the hands of the Maldives people.

Noting the past mistakes and challenges faced by the government in the airport issue, Gasim said that the government should give priority and importance to include well educated and experienced people to run and manage the airport. He said that this will help recover the loss on the economy and boost the profits.

Gasim said that the allegations of corruption against the former regime during the lease of the airport should be investigated. And if the investigates concludes to take action against any person then such action should be taken justly.
