Human Rights Minister urges stakeholders not to lead the people to destruction

Human Rights Minister Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed has urged all stakeholders not to lead the people to destruction and to their own loss by instigating them to cause unrest and damage public properties.

Minister Dhiyana said that it ironic that a people who are most aware of that all criminals deserve punishment are trying to deceive the masses into commit crimes. She said that this is a deliberate violation of the rights of the people.

In view of the recent activities of former President Mohamed Nasheed and leaders of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Minister Dhiyana said that they should know better that they can’t topple a government by taking to the streets. She said that this is apparent from their previous statements.

Dhiyana said that plotting mischievous schemes to deceive the people into committing crimes and terrorist activities is deliberate attack on them, inflicting loss on the people.

“Nasheed has means. He receives state allowances. Even if it be that he does not get this allowances his family is a wealthy family. And his wife is from a wealthy family. But what about the laymen? What about the poor Maldivian citizen? The people should ponder over this and take heed,” she said.
