Nasheed’s many accusations will do no harm to the govt- Abbas

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Abbas Adhil Riza has said that the many accusations of the former President Mohamed Nasheed will do no harm to the government of President Dr. Mohamed Waheed.

Abbas said that Nasheed’s contradictory statements show that he and his supporters are in utter desperation. He said that his clashing accusations are exposing his true colours to the world.

Abbas said that the government condemns calls of Nasheed for the Commonwealth grouping and other countries to impose sanctions on the government.

The Spokesperson of the President’s Office noted that there are many contradictions in Nasheed’s statements.

“Every day he is coming up with a new story. He is trying to seek the attention of the international community. It is sad that his different illogical and foolish statements are a cause to look down upon those in power,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nasheed on Thursday called for the CMAG and other countries to impose sanctions on the new regime, which he accuses of deposing him in a coup.

"One of the steps we would like the international community to take is to ban members of the regime travelling to their countries," he told reporters.

‘At gunpoint’, ‘under threat of the army opening fire on the public (the lynch mob)’, ‘police threat to storm the army headquarters’, ‘to prevent foreign influence in domestic affairs’, are just a few amongst the many surprises Nasheed continues to pitch at local and International media since he announced ‘voluntary resignation’ on the 7th of February.
