Four Seasons Apprenticeship Program 2013 commences with 60 participants


Four Seasons, which operates widely in training qualified Maldivians to work in the tourism industry of Maldives, has commenced the Four Seasons Apprenticeship Program 2013 with 60 participants, on Saturday 14th April 2012.

Last year, 34 out of 40 participants of the program; which has been held annually since 2001, have graduated successfully.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of this year’s program, held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel, the initial founder of the program, Regional Vice President of the company, who is also the General Manager at Landa Giraavaru Resort, Mr. Armando Kraenzlin said that, at the beginning of the program, while visiting the islands in search of participants, the young adults aged 20-24 they have met were not even interested to talk and were always late for coffee’s. However, today 16 year olds are even coming to Male’ by themselves, for the interview to participate in the program.

In his speech Mr. Armando Kraenzlin praised the government for the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) program introduced last year. He also expressed his gratitude to the government for arranging certification of the participant’s up to TVET standards.

Mr. Armando Kraenzlin assured that those graduated apprentices who are interest will be given employment at Four Seasons Resorts.

He noted that it is a key priority of the Four Seasons to train as many as Maldivians to work at the Four Seasons Resorts in Maldives.

Moreover Mr. Armando Kraenzlin stressed that unlike previous years, it has been planned to educate the participants with various foreign languages , different culture and cuisines in this year’s program. In addition he emphasized that the graduated apprentices of last year’s class had worked with keen interest.

The vote of thanks was delivered by General Manager of Kuda Hura Resort, operated by Four Seasons, Mr. Tiulio Hotopla. In his speech, Mr. Tiulio Hotopla informed that around 300 graduated apprentices of the program are presently working at Manager and Supervisor levels in the tourism industry of the Maldives.

Initially 500 candidates had applied for this year’s program. However due to unavailability of fascilities at the resorts to cater for more students  at once , only 60 candidates were chosen. It should also be noted that as the previous year, only one female apprentice is participating in this program too.

Four Seasons Apprenticeship is a complimentary program conducted by Four Seasons. Pocket money is given to the participants and all the expensses are also paid by the company.
