MDP should go to court to determine the valid articles of party Charter- Alhan

Vice President of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Alhan Fahmy said that it is now imperative to go to the Courts of law to determine the valid and invalid articles of the party Charter.

Alhan said that it is unacceptable that some within the party are trying to disempower the authority of the elected President and Vice President of MDP. He said that it is also unacceptable to disempower the national committee of the party and to amend the Charter of the party.

Alhan said that in the last congress of the party held, the passing of electing a President and aVice President disempowers the authority of the Chairperson.

Meanwhile, the national congress has decided to take action against those who brought amendments to the Charter. However, Alhan said that the Secretariat has not made any changes to the Charter.

The Chair of the committee allocated to review the case, Ibrahim Waheed’s report to the national committee said that the Charter presented to the MDP congress and what has been publicized now have many differences.

Alhan said that this is a scheme hatched by those who want to annul the post of the President and Vice President of MDP. And these issues are now being raised because these people are now frustrated that they could not bring the changes they want to the Charter because of the passing of the President and Vice President, he added.

Dr. Ibrahim Didi was elected as President and Alhan Fahmy was elected as the Vice President with the votes of the majority of members of MDP.
