To uphold Islam, votes should be given to Coalition
candidates- Sheikh Abdullah Didi
State Minister of Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah Didi has said that the current government is a government of national unity backed by the national coalition. He said that it is important that the candidates of the coalition are elected to uphold the Islamic religion.
Sheikh Abdullah said this while addressing the campaign rally of Jumhooree Party candidate for Kashidhoo constituency, Abdullah Jabir held at Kashidhoo last evening.
The State Minister reminded the people that it was to defend and protect Islam and to stop the schemes hatched by the government of former President Mohamed Nasheed to spread irreligious and antireligous activities in the country that the coalition was formed in the first place.
“One of the state Ministers the coalition met in relation to the decision of Nasheed’s regime to give permission to sell alcoholic beverages in the inhabited islands said that they are doing this because they want to drink liquor in the Maldives freely. Therefore the former government decided to make uninhabited islands within inhabited islands so as to spread alcoholic beverages in the country,” he said.
Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of electing the coalition candidates so they can uphold the religion. He said that it is important the coalition is the majority in the Majlis.
Furthermore, the Sheikh said that it is very important that the majority of the Peoples’ Majlis are righteous and just Muslims.
Sheikh Abdullah Didi also said that Nasheed’s regime came to end for two main reasons despite Nasheed’s many different stories regarding it.
“The government of Nasheed came to an end because he dishonored Allah and His Messenger, peace be upon him, and his righteous wives. The government came to an end because they transgressed the many limits set by the constitution. That’s how we came about. The coalition came to stop these activities of the former government,” he said.
Sheikh Abdulah didi said that the votes given to the coalition are not votes given to individuals. He added that it is a vote that will be used to defend and protect Islam and our nation.
