Finance Committee’s meeting with AG kept discreet

The meeting of the Financial Committee of the Peoples’ Majlis with the Auditor General (AG) Niyaz Ibrahim regarding the memo issued by the Office of AG which informed all employees of the office that all employees with less than 2 C passes at General Certificate of Education (GCE) O’ Level will be sacked from office due to the new changes brought to the framework of the office.

An employee of the AG’s office from the 21 employees who were informed to be sacked by the Office informed Miadhu Daily that a member of the Finance Committee of the Majlis earlier agreed to allow the employees participation in the meeting. The employee said that the employees were later denied to enter and had to wait outside.

Meanwhile, AG’s Office informed 21 of its employees that they will be sacked from office because of the change of some of the works of the Auditor General (AG)’s office to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) in 2008.

Miadhu Daily was informed that earlier it was discussed that 3 employees from AG’s Office will be shifted to MIRA with the decision to shift some of the duties of the AG’s office to MIRA. However, the 3 employees are now going to remain in office with the current decision to sack 21 employees.

Miadhu Daily was informed by an employee that the office falsely stated to the Finance Committee of the Peoples’ Majlis that 22 employees were left idle with the 2008’s decision.
