Dictator Gayoom finally announce to form a new political party
Former President Dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has Finally announced yesterday evening to form a new political party and to to contest in 2013 presidential Election.
In a meeting of the breakaway Z-faction(Most Maldivians call it Zionist Faction because Dictator Gayoom’s 30 years of rule in Maldives is much worse than Isreal and Palestininian situation) of DRP held at the Office of the Honorary Leader, Gayoom official announced the decision to register a new political party after concluding the discussions on it between the members of DRP who align themselves to the Z-faction.
A top official of the faction informed Miadhu Daily that although there were some difference of opinion among the members in forming a new political party, after last evening’s announcement all are now in agreement with it.
Members of the of other opposition parties, members of the opposition parliamentary coalition and some ministers of the former regime also participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, leader of DRP, Ahmed Thasmeen Ali recently said that the talks that the Honorary Leader of DRP, Gayoom forming a new political party is still a thought that has not materialized so far.
Speaking on a DhiTVprogramme, DRP Leader Thasmeen said that the majority of the members of DRP would not leave DRP to join the new party.
Thasmeen said that the Z-faction have so far not clarified the fundamental principles that new party that is alleged to be formed by the new party would adopt.
Thasmeen also said that the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will be very pleased if Gayoom forms a new political party. He said that the ruling party will take advantage of this if the new party is registered.
The news of the fuming internal crisis within DRP has been making headlines in the media for quiet sometime. The anti-Thasmeen movement first led by the dismissed DRP Deputy Leader Umar Naseer, which is now taken over by DRP founding leader Gayoom, has been continuously attempting to expose Thasmeen’s leadership lapses and defame him.
However, against the background of all these mounting challenges and the volatile internal clashes, Thasmeen on his part has been assuring his fellow party members and supporters he will remain firm as Party Leader despite the opposition to oust him. Thasmeenis seen to have the support of other strong politicians such as Speaker Abdulla Shahid, and MP HamdoonHameed.
Though it was Former President, DRP founding Leader Gayoom himself who endorsed Thasmeen to be his successor in party leadership, he later announced that his support for Thasmeen is now lost.
