Umar oppose to form a new party because
Yaameen might take the leadership: RaajjeTV
Local TV channel, RaajjeTV has reported that the dismissed Deputy Leader of the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Umar Naseer oppose to form a new political party because opposition Peoples’ Alliance (PA) Leader, Abdullah Yaameen, might take the leadership of the party.
In view of this news reported by RaajjeTV, an official of the TV station informed Miadhu Daily that the station had received authentic information regarding Umar’s decision and the reason for his decision to reject the idea of registering a new political party.
RaajjeTV also reported that Umar rejected the idea because the two daughters of the Honorary Leader of DRP is not pleased that leaders of the PA might take away the leadership of the new party.
According to RaajjeTV, Z-Faction had discussions to hand over the leadership of the new party to the half brother of Gayoom, Abdullah Yaameen.
The interim President of the breakaway Z-faction, Umar Naseer, informed Miadhu Daily that the faction had a meeting on the night before the day of Eid and had their final discussions on forming a new political party. He said that the meeting was concluded with the decision to inform the public of the final decision within a period of three days.
Umar said that the Z-faction does not support the idea of registering a new party and had always rejected the suggestion.
However, a top official of the faction informed that a new political party will be registered in the coming week. He said that there were some disagreement among the members and now discussions are being carried out to sort out this problem.
