Sheikh Ilyas urges AP members to remain patient and steadfast

Deputy President of the Council of Religious Scholars of Adhaalath Party (AP), Sheikh Ilyas Hussein has urged the members of the party to remain patient and steadfast in this time of differing among some members of the party.

“As the Deputy President of the Council of Religious Scholars today I meet you members of the Adhaalath Party and the well-wishers of this party to clear the confusion that has been spread within some of the members of the party regarding the change that has come to the party,” he said commencing his speech yesterday.

Reminding the objective of the formation of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Ilyas said that the party was registered to foster the moral values of the religion of Islam within the country and to enjoin good and forbid the wrong. He said that the works of the party has been reaping its fruits.

Ilyas said that the differing among some members of the party should not be a reason for splitting the ranks of the party. He said that the path taken by Adhaalath is a straight path and the party will tread on this path without straying away from the goals of the party.

Ilyas also said that the decision of the party to break away from the government coalition was taken after getting the approval of the majority of the council.

“The council consists of 12 members. 2 members did not want to comment on this decision and I do not intend to go into details of that here tonight. And we could not contact one member. The remaining members all favoured the decision to break away from the government coalition. Therefore, despite the rumours spread by some who intend to cause separation within the party, it should be known that this decision was taken following the majority of the council,” he said.

Ilyas also assured that the party does not have any intentions to join coalitions with the recently formed PPM or any other party. He said that Adhaalath Party is an independent and individual political party and it will continue to work as such in the future.
