Delegation from Queensland University gives a courtesy call on Minister Shifa
The
Minister of Education Shifa Mohamed met with the delegation from Australia who
are here as part of the ongoing AusAID project implemented at the Maldives
Qualifications Authority. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Education on
23 May 2011, Monday.
The visitors include Ian Kimber, Executive Director, Tertiary and Non-State
Education of Queensland Department of Education and Training, Professor Vi
McLean, Independent Education Consultant and Nelson Salangsang, Manager
International Project of Queensland University of Technology.
The delegation from Australia is in the Maldives to participate in the
activities of “Higher Education Week 2011” organized under the above mentioned
project. The project seeks to develop local capacity on competency and
educational leadership for effective implementation of the Maldives National
Qualifications Framework.
The Minister and the Senior Officials who participated in the meeting were
briefed by the team about the status and progress of the project activities. A
group of 15 Maldivians are being trained under the project. Collectively the
group has produced three sets of documents focusing on higher education
curriculum development, internal quality assurance procedures, and higher
education audit policies and procedures.
The Minister thanked AusAID and QUT support for the project and thanked the
consultants who are directly assisting in the training of the local team.
