No law states that changes brought to political parties should be notified within 15 days- Fuwad Thaufeeg

President of the Elections Commission, Fuwad Thaufeeg has said that there is no law that states that any changes brought to the political parties should be notified to the Elections Commission within a time period of 15 days maximum.

Fuwad Thaufeeg said that there is no law that can nullify these changes brought to the parties even if the proper documents are handed officially to the Elections Commission within 15 days.

In view of the recent statement of Mohamed Waheed Ibraheem, the lawyer of the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom that the changes brought to DRP in the party congress are void because the Elections Commission was notified of these changes within 15 days, Fuwad Thaufeeg said that he had heard of this statement but however that there is no law that states this.

Fuwad Thaufeeg said that Ahmed Thasmeen Ali is being regarded as the leader of DRP after the congress and that all communications are carried out by the commission as such.
