Will move forward with the gov’t even by setting aside those who obstruct benefits to the people- Ali Waheed
Thoddoo MP, Ali Waheed has said that he will move forward with this government even if it means setting aside those who would obstruct benefits to the Maldivian people.
Speaking for the first time at the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) podium after switching from the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Ali Waheed said that he will work to maintain the government by acting inside and outside and in margins of the chart.
“I do want to say this though: because the government did not have a majority in parliament, I do accept that things had to be done in the margins. Any government would have had to do so, as the President says, acting inside and outside and in margins of the chart – that was necessary to maintain this government. Now however, when parliament returns from recess, we will redraw the chart and its boundaries will be clear. We will move forward with this government even if it means setting aside those who would obstruct benefits to the Maldivian people,” he said.
Former Deputy Leader of DRP, Ali Waheed criticized the opposition and said that with two and a half years gone, what we see from opposition activities is that “everything for them is about saving a person whose tail is caught and stuck in the 30-year reign.”
Ali Waheed, who participated in the opposition protests against the government on the soaring prices of commodities and services, noted that the government has a plan but what the opposition has is nothing but calling the plan bad without proposing an alternative.
Moreover, Ali Waheed said that he joined MDP as a common member and that he knows how to climb one rung after another and move ahead in the party.
In view of the statement of DRP Leader, Ahmed Thasmeen Ali that it is not the right time to leave the party, Ali Waheed said that he has been concerned for two and half years and that he did not decide to join MDP out of a sudden.
