MDP celebrates Dr. Didi and Alhan’s success in the internal elections
-Home work to participate in Presidential elections is now being done- Didi
-Alhan appeals Gayyoom to accept the political reality

The ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has held a special function at Artificial Beach area yesterday night to celebrate the success of Dr. Ibrahim Didi and Alhan Famy in the party’s internal elections.

Former Fisheries Minister Dr. Didi and Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy have been elected as the President and Vice President of the ruling MDP respectively.

During the function, Dr. Didi’s rival and Alhan Fahmy’s rival in the elections, Ibrahim President’s Special Envoy Hussein Zaki and Minister of Housing and Environment Mohamed Aslam respectively, congratulated them.

Speaking at the function, the newly elected President of MDP, Dr. Didi said that the party leadership is still in need of the counsel of Zaki and others. He said that the party will be initiating the home work to win the Presidential Elections 2013. He also reiterated his vows during the campaign and said that all work will be carried out according to plan to strengthen the branches of the party.

Moreover, the newly elected Vice President Alhan Fahmy said that his success in the elections has brought grief to the opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP).

Alhan who was earlier was an active member of DRP, strongly condemned the opposition party and called DRP founding Leader Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom to accept the political reality. He assured that it is no joke that he vowed to back the party with more than 1 lakh members in the Presidential elections to be held on 2013.
