No protection and no allowance to Mr. Corrupt Dictator Gayoom-Mustafa

Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Mustafa has said that no allowance or protection should be given to former President Dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He said that Gayoom has usurped the wealth of the people and has been corrupting the nation.

Mustafa said this against the background of allegations made in the media, based on a leaked audio, that Mustafa proposed the bill to annul any protection and allowance given to former President Gayoom on the request of the leader of main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Ahmed Thasmeen Ali. 

Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Mustafa said he did not want to make any comments regarding the leaked audio. However, he said that the independence to use a phone is now being violated because of former President Gayoom.

“We talk to people differently in different contexts. I do not want to comment on that (leaked audio) without knowing the full details of how that happened,” Mustafa said.

Thimarafushi MP said that Gayoom should be tried in court and imprisoned. “In which country of the world are the oppressive tyrant dictators who usurped the wealth of the people set free?” he said.

Mustafa said that Gayoom is freely living as he pleases because of the clemency of President Mohamed Nasheed. However, he said that his is having a bad affect on the financial sector of the state. He said that he does not believe in this principle of the President.
