JCI World President to visit Maldives
2011 JCI World President Kentaro Harada is paying a visit to Maldives on the 14th of March (Monday).
JCI said that this visit will be of extreme benefit to its members, since the President is expected to share JCI World Wide Vision and Action Plan with the Maldives.
JCI informed that the President’s main objective in his visit would be to build a truly global organisation with shared values and common goals, global partnerships for development and to foster active citizenship through the citizens and through JCI Maldives members who are young people who choose influence change through indentifying problems in their communities and by working with their peers, partners, civil society organisations and governments to find creative solutions to those problems.
In this visit, President Kentaro Harada will recruit new members by taking part in meetings and open conferences with young audiences such as school graduates, young business men and women, associations and organisations which have common goals. Among notable events taking place during his visit, the launching of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award and the Creative Young Entrepreneurs Award (CYEA) should be mentioned. TOYP has been a great success last year, and JCI Maldives aims to carry on the enthusiasm with the help of the CYEA, a new program to be introduced to the Maldives just his year. Both programs have the common aim of empowering the youth and giving the upcoming young people enough exposure, helping them widen their scope of work.
JCI said that many new projects have been planned for the year ahead, and with the help of the World President, JCI Maldives will launch programs other than the TOYP and CYEA. The local chapters, Kaafu LOM, Male’ LOM and Hulhumale’ LOM, will participate actively throughout the whole visit, to ensure the spirit of JCI is apparent to Kentaro Harada.
He will also meet with the government officials, to spread the word of JCI and JCI Maldives and gain support for the movement. Through all this, the important affairs and concerns of our country would be voiced out to the International community, and we hope to create a positive impact.
Junior Chamber International (JSI) is a worldwide membership based non-profit organisation of young active citizens, aged 18 to 40, who are dedicated to empowering youth and creating positive change.
JCI was introduced to Maldives in 2002 by the Commonwealth Youth Program (CYP) through the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During this time, a handful of Maldivian leaders took interest in studying and understanding JCI by attending JCI meetings held in various parts of the world.
