Dictator Gayyoom’s action are only bringing harm to DRP- Thasmeen

The leader of the main opposition party, Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has said that the actions of the former President Dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom are only brining harm to the party.

Speaking at the public rally of DRP held at Imadudin School yesterday evening, DRP Leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali said that it is apparent that the Honorary Leader Gayyoom has no sincerity and that his actions are only widening the rift in DRP instead of brining rectification.

Thasmeen noted that none of the MPs of DRP resigned from the party amidst the heat in the the Parliamentary Elections and the Local Council elections. He said that DRP succeeded in both the elections because the members stood firm and patient while they faced the many challenges.

DRP Leader Thasmeen said that after the elections with the much harm brought to the party by Gayyoom and his faction, Thoddoo MP Ali Waheed and Maafannu Dhekunu MP Abdullah Abduraheem switched to the ruling party. He said that they were frustrated by the lowly behavior of the Honorary Leader.

In view of the current discussions by the councils to solve the internal crisis, Thasmeen said that Gayyoom acted crudely and slandered him in the meetings.
