I don’t know if Shahid and Thasmeen took bribes from GMR or not- Biggest Liar Dictator Gayyoom
In light of the assessment of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on the allegations of Umar Naseer that the leader of the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Ahmed Thasmeen Ali and Speaker of the Peoples’ Majlis Abdullah Shahid took bribes from Indian GMR Infrastructure, the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom said that he does not know if Shahid and Thasmeen took bribes from GMR or not.
ACC’s report on the allegations of the dismissed deputy leader of DRP stated that there is no evidence that the alleged tickets taken in the name of Abdullah Shahid and Ahmed Thasmeen Ali to fly from Colombo to Dheli to meet GMR was bought by GMR. ACC said that the commission was not provided with any solid evidence to make these allegations.
In his testimonies to ACC, the Honorary Leader of DRP, Gayyoom said that he was informed about the trip of Thasmeen and Shahid from the media and he got a SMS message stating the same. However, he said that he does not remember the sender.
The ACC report said that Gayyoom then messaged Shahid to confirm if the news was true. He said that Shahid replied saying that he and Thasmeen were in Colombo and does not intend to go to Dheli or anywhere else.
Meanwhile, Umar earlier exposed to the public a letter which he got from Sri Lankan Airways confirming the authenticity of the e-tickets bought by GMR Officials for DRP Leader Thasmeen and Speaker Shahid. He filed the case in ACC on 13 December 2010.
