We will refuse Didi because he is not sincere: Thasmeen
 

Main opposition DRP Leader and Kendhoo MP Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has told media that his party will vote against the nomination of Ibrahim Didi, Didi to the post vacated by his resignation a year ago.

Thasmeen said DRP's decision is based on the principle of not accepting a nomination the Majlis has rejected earlier in addition to Didi's failure to honour the pledge he made during his campaign for MDP presidency.

“The campaign talks of Didi showed how dishonest and deceitful he is. He has said that those who work in top posts cannot fully undertake the responsibilities of the leadership of MDP. He also said that he will never accept top posts that would obstruct him from taking the full responsibility as the President of MDP. This shows how hypocritical he is,” Thasmeen said.

Thasmeeen elaborated that Didi has said in very clear words that he will not accept a Government post if he was elected to the post of president of MDP. Didi was elected the new president of the MDP defeating MDP's Acting President and special Envoy of President Mohamed Nasheed Ibrahim Hussain Zaki. Didi has therefore failed to honour his promise and he is not sincere, Thasmeen said.

DRP Leader has called on other opposition parties and MPs not to approve Didi's nomination on these grounds. This is the third time Didi's nomination to the post has been submitted to the Majlis. Thasmeen further explained they rejected the second nomination of Ahmed Sawad Ali also on the basis of principles.
