MDP President’s Special Envoy resigns
Aslam Shakir who was appointed on 13th June, as the Special Envoy for ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) President Dr. Ibrahim Didi (Didi) has resigned from the post.
MDP President’s Special Envoy Aslam Shakir stepped down saying that he is far more busy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Minister of State than with the party. He said he needs more time to fulfill the responsibilities of his post in the government.
In an interview to Miadhu Daily, Aslam Shakir said that while filling the post in government he is not able to give enough time to the party. He also said that as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs he has more on his plate than to give his time to the party and is travelling most of the time to other countries.
MDP reports that he resigned from the post through an email sent to MDP President Dr. Didi.
Aslam Shakir said that he does not have any disagreements with the party leadership.
