Sheikh Ilyas rails against the dangers of corruption
Sheikh Ilyas Hussein has railed against the dangers of corruption in his Friday sermon. He stated that the spread of corruption in a society is more imminent and dangerous than the deadly contagions and diseases like dengue fever.
In the Friday sermon delivered in Masjid Thakurufanu Muhammad A’dham, Sheikh Ilyas said that corruption has a devastating impact on the economy and the society and that is why Islam strictly prohibits bribery.
Sheikh Ilyas said that Muslims should in no way contribute to the propagation of this disease, by active or passive actions, or by their complicit silence. He said that corruption is an evil that must be fought by refusing to give or receive and by reporting it.
The Sheikh said that Islam promotes a moral framework that can provide a foundation for the fight against corruption. He said that the Islamic teachings call upon Muslims to behave in a just and ethical manner that is conducive to sustainable development.
Sheikh Ilyas said that Islam is the only remedy to set a corruption-less society.
