Minister Naseem calls on with US Secretary Clinton
On July 13th in Washington, D.C., Ahmed Naseem, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Minister Naseem thanked the United States for the assistance they provided in strengthening democracy in the Maldives and in her remarks, Ms. Clinton praised the government and people of Maldives for their efforts in bringing democracy to the country.
This is the first time a foreign minister of the Maldives is meeting with his counterpart of the United States on an official trip.
Minister Naseem was accompanied by the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed; the Deputy Permanent Representative, Thilmeeza Hussain; the President's Press Secretary, Mohamed Zuhair; Special Envoy for Science and Technology, Ahmed Moosa, and as trade representatives, the Managing Director of Amin Constructions Abdulla Mohamed, MASI President Mohamed Ali Janah, and Chairman of Yacht Tours Abdulla Jabir.
During this trip to New York and Washington Minister Naseem and his delegation are also meeting various representatives from the private sector and civil society, apart from officials of the United States Government.
