We're in doubts as to whom we should be united with- members
As per Dictator Gayoom’s tradition of he himself backlashing his own statements, thursday night he has called to all the members of DRP to be united as brothers and work hard to achieve win the local council election., Friday night his allies has betrayed DRP. They held a meeting in island Miladhoo in noonu atoll and announced that sacked DRP Member Mullah Monkey Umar Naseer still as DRP’s Deputy Leader.
In response to the call of unity by the founding leader of the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) and former President of the Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, members of DRP has said that they are doubtful as to whom they should be united with.
A leading figure of the main opposition party said to Miadhu Daily that the members do not know the meaning of the call of the founding leader to unite and win the local council elections when the actions says otherwise. The informant also said that perhaps it was a call for the unity of parties and not of the factions within DRP.
The member who wanted to remain anonymous said that the reason to believe as such was that Umar Naseer was declared as the Deputy Leader of DRP at a meeting held at Noonu Nilandhoo where some of the members of the family of DRP founding Leader were present.
“He has been dismissed. The elections commission has ousted Umar Naseer from DRP registar. So how can this man be declared as the Deputy Leader of DRP? What should DRP do to face these challenges? It is unbelievable that such a thing can emanate from those who want unity,” the anonymous DRP leading figure told Miadhu Daily.
“Despite the call for unity and to work to win the local council elections by the founding Leader at the meeting held at Kalaafaanu School, the independent candidate of Medhu Henveiru, Nazim ‘Kunnaaru’ was barred by DRP activists from entering the hall when Gayoom took a group photo with the candidates,” another leading member of DRP told Miadhu Daily.
Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam said that DRP Leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali and parliamentary group members met together with founding leader Gayoom at a tea held after the meeting of Gayoom.
