Education Minister meets the Maldivian nominees participating in a debate in New Delhi
Minister of Education Shifa Mohamed met the
two nominees from the Maldives who are leaving to participate in a debate that
is to be held on Wednesday, 23rd February 2011, in New Delhi.
They are two students from Aminiya School: Mariyam Shafa Ahmed Rameez and
Fathmath Nabaha Mohamed Waheed. Aishath Sulthana , a Leading Teacher from
Aminiya School will accompany them.
This competition is the SAARC Round of the Dr. Mahbub ul Haq Memorial
Inter-school Debate Competition. The topic of the debate is “High economic
growth rates alone in South Asia will not ensure elimination of inequalities”.
Mariyam Shafa Ahmed Rameez and Fathmath Nabaha Mohamed Waheed will join the two
teams of the competition in which one will speak for the motion and the other
will speak against the motion.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday, 22nd February, at
16:00 hrs. Minister of Education Madam Shifa Mohamed, the Superintendent of
Education Jameela Ali, Deputy Principal Aishath Zoona, Leading Teacher Aminath
Hassan, Leading Teacher Aishath Sulthana, and the two students Mariyam Shafa
Ahmed Rameez and Fathmath Nabaha Mohamed Waheed with their parents participated
in the meeting.
Madam Shifa Mohamed wished the students good luck in their competition and
mentioned that they should try to establish networks in order to get more
opportunities for Maldivian students
