Ibrahim Nasir International Airport’s 180-day development initiative shows near completion
In order for the The Ibrahim Nasir International Airport to reach the realm of, the preferred islandairport in the world GMR Group’s Airport Experts took over the reins in June 2010 to build, operate,modernize and expand the airport in Hulhule. One of the many issues to rectify was to accommodatethe capacities particularly in the peak traffic periods. With this taken into consideration the GMR group’sairport sector created a 180 day programme to modernize, expand and operate in a more effectiveand efficient manner. “At the end of the day all passengers visit the Maldives for pleasure, so whynot let them arrive and depart from the gateway of Maldives with happy and very satisfied notions.

With the implementation of the 180 daydevelopment programme achieving the status of the preferred island airport in the world, just gotcloser.
“I am proud to state that most of the development plans focused on expansion and the provison of basicfacilities for passenger ease has been settled and operations are smooth sailing,” states Mr AndrewHarrison.
The airport’s next stage will be focused on establishing minimum service levels to facilitate the 180-daydevelopment programme. Medium-term programmes will be spread over a two to three year periodand will focus on investment and infrastructure development. GMIAL seen as a key player in the processdevelopment mechanisms, has been active for some time already, and now have completed processesto ease the traffic flow.
