Claims that state expenditure is
increasing is a lie- Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
Hinnavaru MP, Ibrahim
Mohamed Solih (Iboo) has said that the claims made by the opponents against the
government that the state expenditure has been increasing are a blatant lie.
Speaking at a news
conference held at the main office of the ruling party, Maldivian Democratic
Party (MDP), Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the state budget allocated for the
current year is the same budget that was passed for the year 2008.
“That is 4 years from now.
Yes, the price of commodities and services has raised. But the state budget is
still the same. So it is clear that the claim made by the opponents that the
state expenditure is increasing is an outright lie,” he said.
He said that the debt left
by the former regime should be considered when talking about the expenditure of
the state in the current administration. He noted that 1.8 billion Rufiyya from
the 12 billion Ruffiya budget is allocated to pay the debts of the former
administration.
