Ibrahim Nasir International Airport participates in Youth Challenge 2011


Under the new name of the airport, Ibrahim Nasir International Airport took part in theYouth Challenge 2011. The event was organized by the Ministry of Human Resources,Youth and Sports by Maldives Exhibition and Conference Services (MECS) with support ofJCI Maldives. The event takes the lead in the nation as it gives opportunities for youth togather information on employment, higher education and training opportunities.

Andrew Harrison, CEO INIA states, “We are opening up career opportunities in many areasfor youth to look at the airport for a stable career.” Like someone said “All kids need is alittle help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them. And we at the airport haveendorsed the fact that we believe in you to bring the necessary change in the airport. Youmust visit our stall and spend some time with my team who will give you information onhow great and the benefits incurred to work at the airport.”

“This is a good forum that we could establish our company’s perspective and values,”stated MahikaChandrasena, Head of Corp Comms for INIA. Organizations from variousfields participated in this fair. The ministry first brought up the idea of Youth Challenge in1998 and the very first event was held in 1999, organized by the Youth Centre. For thepast decade this event had been organized by the Youth Centre and also had beenhosting at the same premises of MCSE building and made her benchmark.

This event aims to provide opportunities for youth to meet employers from various sectorsand explore the diversity of the job market in the Maldives. Additionally it is anopportunity to exhibit available job opportunities and the necessary skills requiredfor the jobs at organizations and to develop a better understanding among youthon the importance of work ethics. Over 500 youth visited the INIA stall and was veryinterested in the way forward of INIA.
