Thasmeen is not under pressure in the Majlis- DRP

The main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has denied the allegations of some politicians that the leader of DRP, Ahmed Thasmeen Ali is under pressure in the Peoples’ Majlis.

The media coordinator of the party and the President of the Fishermen’s Wing of DRP, Ali Solih said that it is now apparent from the sincere works of the Leader Thasmeen inside and outside the Majlis that he is not under any pressure.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Ali Solih said that Thasmeen and the MPs close to him have never voted in favour of the government or the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in the Peoples’ Majlis. He said that the allegations from within the party and outside of the party are false and baseless accusations.

Ali Solih said that those who speak out against DRP Leader Thasmeen do so to achieve materialistic gains from the current government. He said that Thasmeen is an ideal leader who is far away from dictatorial rule. He further said that the leadership of Thasmeen is a democratic leadership.

Ali Solih also condemned the former member of DRP, Ali Waheed who later switched to ruling MDP as a charlatan who has fallen to the traps of MDP by taking a bribe of millions of Ruffiya. He alleged that Ali Waheed recently used some of the bribe money he gained from MDP to by two land plots from Hulhumale’ Beach front.
