Biggest challenge the govt will face is to change the peoples’ perception- Deen

Mohamed Waheedudeen (Deen) has said that the biggest challenge the government will face is to change the perception of the people.

The local philanthropist and business tycoon, Deen said that President made this statement while speaking during the inauguration of the government’s “Fiscal and Economic Reform Programme” held Monday evening at Dharubaaruge.

Deen said that the perception of the majority of the people is that “everything is good but nothing is bad.” He then underscored the importance of educating and cultivating the people and the councilors. He said that it is not reasonable for any concerned party to point fingers at them without taking the responsibility to educate them.

“The problem is that some people fail to comprehend the revelation of Allah. It is Allah Who bestows upon whomsoever He wills authority and it is Allah who takes away the authority from whomsoever He wills. When some of those who lose their authority then they work to deceive the people in to believing that their salvation lies in dictatorship,” he said.

Deen also said that those who oppose the tax system do not know that it is because of the people that such people attained richness and wealth. He said that they are opposing the tax system merely because they have to pay the taxes.

Deen mentioned that he is from the council members of University. He said that the lecturers and teachers are the university should be from the most educated of people in the country. He said that this could only be achieved by having enough revenue in the government.
