Majlis or govt opposing constitution? Supreme Court needs to find out- Gasim

Leader of the opposition Jumhooree Party (JP), Gasim Ibrahim said that the Supreme Court should check if it is the Peoples’ Majlis or the government who is opposing the Constitution.

JP Leader and Maamigili MP, Gasim Ibrahim said that the government’s contradictory and outrageous interpretations of the articles of the constitution have now become a game. He said that the government than puts the blame on the Majlis and claims that it is the Majlis who is opposing the constitution.

Gasim said that the actions of the governments are so absurd that now it is necessitated upon the Supreme Court to investigate the matter and issue a verdict on who it is really opposing the constitution. He said that the Supreme Court should rule if it is the Majlis or the government who is acting in contradiction to the Constitution.

Gasim said that it is important that both the government and Majlis respect the constitution and uphold it.
