the current raise in Dollar exchange rate
ADK Hospital has decided to raise
the service charges of the hospital with the government’s raise in the US Dollar
exchange rate.
Speaking to Miahdu Daily, the
hospital’s Managing Director, Ahmed Afaal said that the management decided to
raise the service charges with an increase between 5 to 15 percent.
Afaal said that the purchase cost
of the hospital has escalated with the raise in foreign exchange rate of US
dollars.
The MD of ADK hospital assured to
decrease the charges if the exchange rate of US Dollars stabilizes.
Earlier this month, President
Mohamed Nasheed, in one of his weekly radio address expressed optimism of an
early stabilizing the exchange rate below the median of the band of fluctuation
allowed for the exchange rate of Rufiyaa against US Dollar. He also said the
government was confident of an expeditious fall in the prices of goods and
services as the exchange rate stabilized.
He said it was clear that floating the exchange
rate have not resulted in a significant shake up or a worrying fluctuation in
the market despite rumors.
¨This is because businesses have been calculating
the value of dollar higher than the median of the band allowed [for dollar to
trade] from months back,” he added.
