Achievement of the police depicts their valour to face the many challenges- Pres.
 

President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the achievement of the Maldives Police Service in light of the many challenges they face, in all kinds of circumstances, depicts the valour and courage.

Officiating the ceremony held at Dharubaaruge last night to mark the 78^th anniversary of Maldives Police Service, President Nasheed commended the work of the Police to protect and serve the people of Maldives and also to preserve law and order.

The President said that Maldives Police Service has always been mature in the history of the nation and the courageous work they are doing is something that all Maldivians should be proud of. He commended Maldives Police Services for their services to the country in protecting life and property, enforcing criminal law, criminal investigations, regulating traffic, crowd control, and other public safety duties.

President Nasheed underscored the importance of Maldives Police Service in strengthening its ability to keep the nation safe.

The President said that Maldives Police Service has achieved a lot and are doing good work to enforce the law and order, protect and reduce civil disorder throughout the nation.

With the anniversary observance, President Nasheed said that the drug abuse has been decreased to 31 Percent in 2010 as compared to 2009. However, he noted that still more work are to be done by the government to treat the addicts and bring them back to the society.
