All obstructions against the work to take the gov’t to account will be destroyed- Thasmeen

Leader of the main opposition party, Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has said that all obstructions against DRP’s work to hold the government accountable will be destroyed, regardless even if it comes from within or out of the party.

Speaking at Friday night’s DRP rally held at Imadhudheen School, party leader Thasmeen said that the party will fight against all those who compromise in the work to take the government to account. He said that all obstructions in that cause will be destroyed.

Thasmeen said that he will not step back and not step down from taking the necessary steps against all those who obstruct the work of the party.

Criticizing former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s faction of the party, Thasmeen said that all acts plotted to defame and denigrate the image of the party will do no harm on the party’s work to hold the government accountable.

Thasmeen also heavily criticized the current government and said that the present regime is corrupted. He said that only the President and his handful of loyalist appointees in the government are living happily while for the people are taking several steps back with soaring prices, an ailing health care system, a flagging economy, and rife corruption.
