Police are in a state of frustration when the nation needs them the most-Thasmeen
Leader of the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has said that Police are in a state of frustration and disillusionment when today the nation is in need of their service most.
Speaking at the public rally held at Kalaafaanu School, Friday night, DRP Leader Thasmeen said that Police are the maintainers of order and public security and they have a huge responsibility upon their shoulders in keeping the peace, law enforcement, and protection of persons and property of the nation.
However, Thasmeen alleged that Maldivian Police are now in a state of frustration and disillusionment because of the undue political influence from the administration of the government of President Mohamed Nasheed.
Thasmeen said that some of the high ranking officials have been rejecting the waves of political influence they have to face in Maldives Police Service. He said others submit unwillingly due to dire necessity because of financial problems.
Thasmeen alleged that many Police officers who deserve promotion for their commendable work in serving the society have been denied from it. He said that this is because the state budget cannot afford the allowances and increment that result with such promotions.
