SBI will always assist in Maldives development: CEO


State Bank of India will assist the Maldives in its current fiscal troubles as well as in its developments just like it had in the past, CEO Vijay Jasuja has said speaking in a ceremony held within the India-Maldives friendship week to mark the anniversary of the Indian independence.

Speaking in his capacity as the chair of the India Club, said that this year’s Indian Independence Day is marked very colorfully and that it is a testimony to the cooperation rendered by the Maldives government and thanked the government for their cooperation.

Speaking at the event High Commissioner Muley said that the number of Indian expatriate workers in Maldives had reached 28000. He also said that since this figure corresponds to 10% of the Maldives population Indian nationals should be active in the social programmes in the country.

He also said that in future Indian nationals would actively participate in the programs to clean Male and on environment projects.

Despite the 62 year long independence, High Commissioner said that lot of work has to be done in India on basic needs that are important to raise the living standards of its people. He also stressed the importance of Indian nationals working together to fulfill this gap, no matter in which country they work or live..
