would participate in the development projects in the Maldives if they are deemed
as productive, Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group of Companies have said
speaking in the opening ceremony of the Vivanta by Taj Resort, held yesterday..
Speaking further he also said that the Tata Group does not only assess the profitability of the project for the Group, but projects contribution to the national development is also at the core of the Group’s investment philosophy.
He also said that numerous visits to Maldives had created a special interest with the Maldives and said that Maldives is a country of immense development potential.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tata’s hotel chain, Indian Hotel Company’s CEO and MD, Raymond Mocksan said that Vivanta is going to be the new brand name of its hotels and Vivanta Coral reef Resort at Henbadhoo is the first resort to open under current brand name outside of India.
He also said that in addition to Vivata Coral Reef Resort, two hotels are open under the vivanta brand name in Bangalore and Goa.
He also noted that when Taj Group opened its first resort in the Maldives at Villivaru & Biyaadhoo in 1981, with air-conditioned rooms and running hot and cold water, two facilities which no to present in other resorts were available.
