President Nasheed to open
Viventa By Taj Coral Reef tomorrow.
Viventa by Taj – Coral Reef Resort, owned and managed by India’s Taj group at Hembadhoo Island, Kaafu Atoll would be opened by President HE. Mohamed Nasheed tomorrow.
Some senior officials of the Indian government and a group of prominent businessmen of India, including some senior officials of House of Tata would come to Maldives to participate in the event which is also in the agenda of 62nd Indian independence day celebrations started on 12 th August , Miadhu Daily had also learned.
The resort which was in operation as Taj Reef since 1996 was redeveloped to 5-star level and renamed as Viventa by Taj-Coral Reef would provide all the services from a 5 star resort, with most advanced fascilities..
In addition to all the necessary fascilities , Main Bar, Coffee Shop, Pizzaria, Teppanyaka Grill and Susi Bar, Gymnasium , SPA, 32 Water villas built in the beautiful lagoon , 28 beach villas, ( 16 delux beach villas 12 beach Villas ) and 2 most luxury suites are also available in the resort.
Also the Resort has got well equipeed Water Sprts and Diving Center.
In an exclusive interview to Miadhu Daily, General Manager Mr. Drego said that the resort right now has 120 employees and 55% of them are Maldivians. He also said that Maldivians are fast learners, easy to deal with and that hey work with dedication.
He also said that the management is working very hard to maintain the local employees in the resort. He also said that during the 18 month period in which the resort was closed for renovation, employees had been paid their full salary and an average allowance as service charge so that they would stay with the resort.
Mr. Alwyn also said that it is not too difficult how to learn working, for a one who likes learning. He also said the staff that joins the resort had been provided with education and training and orientation programs are conducted to train the new comers.
He also said that the management does not discriminate between the staff and all of them would have the same meals in the same place. “I also eat from that same cafeteria” he added.
“Working in a resort is a lot of sacrifice. It is not easy to be here after leaving wives, kids and families. So we provide venues for all kinds of sports, depending on the availability of land. I also play football with them” he said. He also said that employees are always welcome to create folk music and dance groups.
Explaining the rationale of the management he said that the quality output would only be from quality teamwork and sports is an excellent means to build teamwork. He also said that such moves would strengthen the bonds of friendships between the individuals as well.
He also said that the opportunity to work for Taj Hotels abroad would be available depending on the qualification and experience of the staff and that they would always give preference to “Taj family employees”.
He also said that all employees are working under Employment Act of Maldives and all the rights and privileges under the Act would be eligible for the staff.
Taj group’s first resort in the Maldives was Villivaru Biyadhoo opened in 1981, the first premier resorts developed by a foreign company in the Maldives
